XXII INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS ON INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL PERSPECTIVES IN ARMENIA, QUINDÍO, COLOMBIA SEPTEMBER 27 TO 29, 2023.
In Colombia, the management of solid waste is one of the main environmental challenges facing the country. According to the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, authorized final disposal systems are concentrated in the center of the country, while unauthorized systems are mostly located in the Caribbean and Pacific regions.
With the aim of promoting comprehensive solid waste management in Colombia, the XXI International Congress on Comprehensive Waste Management and Environmental Perspectives will be held in the city of Armenia, Quindío on September 27th, 28th, and 29th, 2023.
The congress will bring together experts in solid waste management and environmental perspectives from different countries, with the purpose of sharing knowledge, research, and experiences in the sector. In addition, the latest trends and technologies for the utilization and treatment of solid waste will be discussed.
One of the main concerns is the lack of adoption of technologies for the utilization and treatment of solid waste in municipalities and districts. Therefore, the development of incentives to encourage the implementation of these technologies and reduce the volume of waste that ends up in sanitary landfills is proposed.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, 23% of the country’s sanitary landfills and contingency cells have a lifespan of less than three years, and 15 sanitary landfills have expired lifespans in Colombia. This highlights the need to find innovative solutions for the management of solid waste in the country.
During the congress, a commercial exhibition of the latest technology in machinery, raw materials, innovation, and cutting-edge waste solutions will take place, which you can attend free of charge. This is a unique opportunity to learn first-hand about the latest trends and technologies for the management of solid waste.
In conclusion, the International Congress on Comprehensive Waste Management and Environmental Perspectives in the city of Armenia, Quindío, is a unique opportunity to promote comprehensive solid waste management in Colombia and find innovative solutions for the management of solid waste in the country. Don’t miss the opportunity to participate in this important event!
2nd CONGRESS OF INTEGRAL SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT IN ECUADOR MARCH 30 AND 31, 2023.
On March 30th and 31st, 2023, the 2nd Congress on Comprehensive Solid Waste Management was held in Ecuador at the Salon 2000 of the University of the Armed Forces ESPE, Sangolquí Campus. This event was aimed at authorities and technicians from GADs, waste management companies, and other professionals or specialists in the solid waste, environmental management, and sanitation sector.
Our company REMOX INGENIERÍA (COLOMBIA) was invited to share its knowledge on PLASMA GASIFICATION, THERMOVALORIZATION TECHNOLOGY APPLICABLE IN LATIN AMERICA.
The central theme of the congress was to evaluate unconventional alternatives for the treatment and use of solid waste that can be applied in Ecuador. During the event, various innovative options for the management and final disposal of solid waste in the country were discussed.
Among the main topics addressed at the congress, the implementation of solid waste treatment technologies such as composting and biodegradation, which allow the transformation of organic waste into fertilizers for agriculture, were highlighted. The use of renewable energy as an alternative for the treatment of solid waste, through the use of biomass to generate electricity and heat, was also discussed. The promotion of the circular economy through the encouragement of reuse and recycling of solid waste in industry and construction was also emphasized.
In addition, successful experiences from neighboring countries in the comprehensive management of solid waste were presented, which can be taken as references for implementation in Ecuador.
In summary, the 2nd Congress on Comprehensive Solid Waste Management in Ecuador was a space for the exchange of knowledge and experiences among the different actors involved in solid waste management in the country. The topics addressed allowed for the exploration of unconventional alternatives for the treatment and use of solid waste, which represents an opportunity to improve environmental management and sanitation in Ecuador.
REMOX JOINS THE INTERNATIONAL PRESERVATION DAY OF THE OZONE LAYER – SEPTEMBER 16, 2019

The ozone layer, a fragile shield of gas, protects the Earth from the harmful portion of the rays of the sun, thus helping preserve life on the planet.
The phaseout of controlled uses of ozone depleting substances and the related reductions have not only helped protect the ozone layer for this and future generations, but have also contributed significantly to global efforts to address climate change; furthermore, it has protected human health and ecosystems by limiting the harmful ultraviolet radiation from reaching the earth.
Ozone layer protection efforts have also contributed to the fight against climate change by averting an estimated 135 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions, from 1990 to 2010. But we must all push to keep hold of these gains, in particular by remaining vigilant and tackling any illegal sources of ozone-depleting substances as they arise.
PARTICIPATION OF REMOX IN INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF SOLID WASTE.
With the assistance of more than 350 people, the XIX International Congress on Integral Management of Solid Waste was held, in which under the motto «Transformation, Recovery and Marketing» new experiences, applications and technologies were shared that make possible in Colombia and Latin America the achievement of the referred motto.
The REMOX Business Group, constituted by the companies REMOX ENERGY and REMOX INGENIERÍA, participated in this event presenting its Solid Waste Gasification technology through high-energy torches, which brings Latin America with the backing of the pioneer Phoenix Solutions Co. more than 30 years and with applications worldwide of this form of use of the energy contained in the matter.
There were many stakeholders who expressed interest in knowing and evaluating the possibility of applying Gasification to Waste; private companies that process and dispose of urban and hazardous waste, as well as government entities, collection and disposal concessionaires, as well as academics and researchers who hopefully see the possibility of improve with these technologies the way waste is managed and the reduction of its impact on the environment.
We will continue working with all interested parties, from many regions of our country and Latin America, to enable the use of this technology that allows the disappearance of landfills or waste fields, while converting garbage and all types of waste into the plasma that contains all its energy, which can be converted into electrical energy or other applications like liquid combustibles that minimize the impact on the environment.
